This election is different from elections to Bar Associations, as it is based on ‘Preferential Voting System’ where each voter can mark as many preferences as the number of candidates. The Special Committee running the affairs of BCD, has nominated Justice Talwant Singh, Retired Judge, Delhi High Court as Returning Officer and has also constituted a Five Member Election Committee.
The task of Election Committee is to ensure free, transparent and fair elections by providing level playing field for all the candidates. We hope that all the voters who would take part in this election process would make sincere endeavor in ensuring free, fair elections are held in peaceful & orderly manner as is expected form Advocates who are torch bearers of rule of law.
It is expected that all the candidates, voters, supporters and other connected with this process would follow the Model Code of Conduct, instructions of Election Committee issued from time to time, Notifications, Rules, provisions of Advocates Act, 1961, other Acts as applicable, Judgments of Hon’ble Supreme Court & Delhi High Court.
Adherence to above, would help the Election Committee in conducting free, fair and peaceful elections and counting process. We wish to emphasize that this can be achieved only with the co-operation of all who are part of & connected with this electoral process.
